In response to rapidly increasing student interest, expanding bioengineering research opportunities and exponential industry growth, the Northeastern University Department of Bioengineering was founded in 2014. By building on competencies established in graduate bioengineering education within our Chemical Engineering department, and expanding into more comprehensive multidisciplinary areas of bioengineering, the Department in 2023 reached student enrollment of nearly 900 including over 600 undergraduate students.
