As Acting Vice President, Policy and Regulatory Affairs for the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA), Brian works with CNA members in providing strategic oversight on a wide range of regulatory and policy issues impacting the nuclear sector.
Prior to joining CNA, Brian was with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for 17 years in a variety of roles, including Director General of the Directorate of Safety Management, Director General of the Regulatory Policy Directorate and Director of the Environmental Assessment Division. In these roles, he provided leadership in several areas, including federal environmental assessment, technical regulatory oversight and CNSC’s regulatory framework. Prior to joining CNSC, Brian held a variety of policy and regulatory roles in the federal government related to fisheries, indigenous land claims, immigration, and environmental assessment.
