
Mehdi Reisi Fard

Mehdi Reisi Fard serves as the Deputy Director, Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities (DANU), Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).
Dr. Reisi Fard joined the NRC in 2007 through the Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program (NSPDP) as a Reliability and Risk Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES). While in RES, he completed rotational assignments at the Oconee Nuclear Station resident office and as a Reactor Physics Reviewer in the Division of Safety Systems, NRR. Dr. Reisi Fard joined the Division of Risk Assessment in NRR as a Reliability and Risk Analyst in 2012. He held progressively more responsible positions in NRR as the Team Leader for the Risk-Informed Licensing Initiatives Team and the Acting Chief of the PRA Licensing Branch B. He joined the Division of Risk Analysis in RES as the Chief of the Performance and Reliability Branch in 2020. He also completed a temporary assignment as the Acting Deputy Director in the Division of Risk Analysis in RES. Dr. Reisi Fard has served as an NRC representative to the Joint Committee on Nuclear Risk Management, the NRC representative to the Working Group on Risk Assessment of the Nuclear Energy Agency, and the NRC representative to the American Nuclear Society Standards Board. He previously held the Senior Executive Service position of Deputy Director of the Division of Risk Analysis, RES.
Dr. Reisi Fard has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master's degree, and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Ohio State University. He is a certified Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
