Things to do in Boulder, CO
Denver International Airport (DEN)
Located 42 miles southeast of Boulder, Denver International Airport (DEN) is the closest airport to Boulder for airline service. Dozens of major airlines fly to DEN, including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.
Most major car rental companies have offices at DEN, including Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Taxicabs charge a flat rate of around $88 from DEN to Boulder and $55 to Downtown Denver. Uber also provides service to DEN.
The RTD A-Line train system operates a station in the airport and charges around $10 for the 37-minute trip to Denver’s downtown Union Station. The train does not go to Boulder. Trains depart from DEN every 15 to 30 minutes, from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. You can purchase an A-Line ticket with a credit card or cash at vending machines inside the DEN train station. RTD operates buses to and from DEN and downtown Boulder, along routes AB1 and AB2.
If you need to park at DEN, expect to pay around $25 per day in the garage and $16 in the economy lot. Hourly rates run around $4 per hour.
DEN has dozens of restaurants, including Brother’s BBQ, Cantina Grill, Panda Express, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Subway and Wolfgang Puck. If you need to pick up a gift to take home, you will find a variety of kiosks and shops, including BOSE, Earth Spirit, Flight Stop, SEE’s Candies and Way Out West. The airport also has duty-free shops available for international travelers.
Arrive to DEN early to enjoy the airport’s temporary and permanent art exhibits!
