Fred Grant has over eighteen years of structural mechanics engineering experience, the majority of which has been in the nuclear industry. His recent work includes supporting Advanced Reactor (AR) developers with risk informed performance-based (RIPB) design of civil structures, as well as developing RIPB methods and guidance for external hazards design under research sponsored by EPRI. He is a recognized expert in the nuclear industry in various technical areas, including seismic probabilistic risk assessments, seismic and wind fragility analysis, seismic margin assessments, experience-based seismic qualification methods, walkdown of existing facilities, probabilistic seismic response analysis of structures, and analysis of damage indicating ground motion parameters. Mr. Grant is the chair of the ASME Joint Committee on Nuclear Risk Management (JCNRM) Seismic Working Group and currently leads Simpson Gumpertz & Heger's Structural Mechanics Division in Southern California.
