The LLW, ILW, MW, and HW Track encompasses: Operations from generation through treatment and disposal; Technology development, demonstration, and deployment, waste minimization, waste characterization and analysis, effluent monitoring, waste form and facility performance assessment, regulations and standards; packaging, transportation and disposal from for all types of facilities from hospitals, accelerators, research reactors, nuclear power plants, fuel fabrication, government facilities, etc. This track also includes radioactive materials, articles, consumer products and uranium or thorium ores as well as "Greater than Class C - LLW".

This Track includes all activities associated with the assessment, cleanup, and closure of contaminated sites. The topics will explore how to restore and protect human health and the environment through investigation, cleanup, closure, and long-term site management. The focus is on above and below ground remedial actions and cleanup activities including site inspection, characterization and evaluation; sampling and analysis; environmental risk assessment, compliance monitoring; resolving regulatory issues that impact cleanup; aquifer and soil remediation; managing waste resulting from cleanup activities; remedial design and implementation; accelerating cleanup through technological or process improvements; closure; and legacy management/ long-term stewardship. It covers all waste types including radium, uranium byproducts and mill tailings.

This Track includes broad, general topics that are not suited for one of the other six technical tracks. Suitable topics include public involvement; crosscutting issues, policies, programs and technologies; and activities and programs focused on global partnering. In addition, papers discussing issues that involve human resources development are included. Presentations of EM waste programs and policies at the national, multi-national and international level are particularly encouraged.

In addition, papers discussing issues that involve health & safety issues are included.

This Track acknowledge the need to encourage students and early career engineers to pursue studies aligned with the topics of ICEM and to begin to network with students and engineers in other parts of the world. This year ICEM is requesting that students from all nations report on their research at our meeting. ESD/NED will facilitate those reports by providing travel support for some students and early career engineers to attend the meeting and by arranging events that will permit students to develop professional and social ties. This Track will include a Poster Session & Contest as well as a Student Project Competition.
