SHTC 2023 will feature several activities dedicated to students including a hackathon, a career panel, and a social hour. These activities will be available to all student participants at no additional cost. Stay tuned for more information.
Dr. Rydge Mulford
Student Activities Chair
Dr. Rydge Mulford is an assistant professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Dayton. As Director of the Dayton Thermal Applications Laboratory, his research focuses on thermal system design of energy systems, ranging from solar panels to hypersonic vehicles. He is the secretary of the K6 committee in the ASME Heat Transfer Division.
Dr. Darshan G Pahinkar
Students Activities Co-Chair
Dr. Darshan G Pahinkar is an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL, and he directs Adsorption and Energy Technology Laboratory. His research focuses on thermally-driven energy systems, carbon dioxide capture, rheology of adsorbent slurries, coatings and interface materials.
Hannah Arnow
Student Activities Coordinator
Hannah Arnow is a PhD student studying Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute focusing on energy harvesting systems. Specifically, her research explores ways to improve energy conversion in emerging systems, such as electrostatic vibrational energy harvesters and luminescent solar concentrators.
Natalie Douglass
Student Activities Coordinator
Natalie Douglass is a graduate student in mechanical engineering at the University of Dayton with a focus on thermal sciences. Her research with the Dayton Thermal Applications Laboratory focuses on combining heat transfer modelling with the discrete element method to improve the efficiency of concentrating solar power plants.
