The ASME Aerospace Division, Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Branch is organizing the Best Student Hardware Paper Competition as part of the ASME 2019 Conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems (SMASIS). Entrants will be judged by a committee of smart materials and structures experts, and a list of finalists will be determined based upon the technical paper. Finalists are required to present their papers at a regular conference session and must participate in a special exhibit session. During the special exhibit session, finalists will demonstrate hardware operation and a present a poster explaining the nature of the project. All finalists will be honored during the Pioneer Banquet. It is expected that several monetary awards will be presented to the top selected finalists based on their paper quality and impact of hardware performance.
Eligibility Criteria
- A full-length paper must be officially submitted via the web according to conference guidelines and accepted.
- While other authors may be listed on the paper, the student must have contributed the majority of the effort presented and in the writing of the paper.
- E-mail your final paper as a PDF file to the contest chair, Prof. Amin Bibo, Clemson University at abibo@clemson.edu by the deadline (07/13/2019), with "2019 SMASIS Student Hardware Paper Competition" in the subject line. Please also attach the notification of paper acceptance as well as list the paper tracking number in the email. Each student can only enter one paper in this competition.
