ASME Energy Sustainability (ES) Conference brings together scholars and practitioners in a wide range of energy sustainability fields. The conference highlights advances in research and design of sustainable and innovative energy technologies from building to utility scales as well as society-level energy analyses and solutions. This conference is sponsored by ASME’s Advanced Energy Systems Division (AESD) and Solar Energy Division (SED).
Advanced Energy Systems Division (AESD)
Organized as one of four divisions within the Society's Energy Resources Board, the Advanced Energy Systems Division is concerned with non-conventional or emerging energy conversion processes, both direct and indirect. Emphasis is placed on conversion from chemical and thermal to electrical or mechanical forms of energy. Recent activities have included consideration of transportation energy requirements, building energy systems and grid-connected buildings, thermal discharge disposition, advanced power cycles, pollution impacts, carbon capture and sequestration and the demands on technology due to the energy crisis.
Solar Energy Division (SED)
Established in 1966 from a group of ASME members interested in the application of solar energy to mechanical engineering systems, the Solar Energy Division focuses on solar related technologies including concentrated solar power, photovoltaics, solar chemistry, thermal energy storage, and solar thermal systems, and sustainable buildings. Additionally, SED, broadly covers all renewable energy technologies (wind energy, ocean energy, bioconversion, biofuels) as well as energy conservation.
