Joseph Smith is currently the Director of the Mechanical and Aerospace Division at SC Solutions in San Diego, CA. He has over 20 years of experience spanning spacecraft, aerospace development, and experimental aerodynamics in top category motorsport.
Mr. Smith’s experience includes the design, analysis, test, and manufacture of spaceflight hardware, including both satellites and crewed launch vehicles. Additionally, Mr. Smith has aerodynamic motorsport design and testing experience which spans Formula 1 and Champ Car open wheel series through to Stock Cars.
Prior to SC Solutions Mr. Smith has worked variously as a Senior Project Manager, Head of Aerodynamics and as a senior Structural Analyst and Design Engineer in an aerospace context.
Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.
