In this forum, National Science Foundation (NSF) will provide various avenues for the IMECE community to interact with program directors from the Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) Division and the Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems (CBET) Division. The track includes announcements of new NSF opportunities, 1-on-1 meetings with NSF program directors, and a student-centered IMECE-wide poster session for NSF-funded research.
PANELS: NEW NSF RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
- CBET – Monday, November 1, 2:15PM-3:15PM Eastern Daylight Time
- CMMI – Wednesday, November 3, 3:25PM-4:25PM Eastern Daylight Time
Representatives from CBET and CMMI will introduce new funding opportunities and current NSF opportunities from their respective divisions and have a live Q&A with the audience about the opportunities. These presentations will be of greatest benefit to current faculty members (all ranks) at US Institutions.
ONE-ON-ONES WITH NSF PROGRAM DIRECTORS
(limited to faculty at US Institutions)
- Schedule: Wed 12:55PM-3:15PM Eastern Daylight Time

NSF Student Poster Competition
Track 16: NSF
Topic 16-1: Poster Session: NSF-funded Research (Grad & Undergrad)
Topic 16-2: Poster Session: NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
Qualifications for the competition require that the first author must be a currently registered student or recent graduate (within 1 year from graduation). Work must be primarily based on efforts from the past 2 years. The student author must be listed as the "lead", "presenter" and "contacting" author for the abstract submission to IMECE. The project advisor must be listed as a co-author (preferably the last author on the list). Best poster awards with cash prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places) will be presented in both the 16-1 and 16-2 categories. Authors will be contacted after abstract acceptance for validation requirements. Additional information can be found at the IMECE 2021 website.
Poster Session Registration Grants
NSF-funded grant for covering the poster session registration costs ($199) will be available to select competition participants. Once the abstract is approved, instructions for submitting the registration grant application (optional) will be provided. The number of grants is limited so we strongly encourage professors and departments to cover the registration of their students.
Deadlines
