Kirk Byrtus is the Vice President, Pipeline Integrity for Enbridge Pipelines Inc. In this role, Kirk is accountable for the pipeline integrity management standards and programs applied to mainline pipelines and facilities. Prior to this, he held positions of VP, Engineering and Asset Management and VP, Pipeline Control and numerous other positions with Enbridge.

Marcelino Guedes Gomes is Mechanical Engineer from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ). He has gained his Masters in Civil Engineer from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ) and his MBA in strategic Knowledge Management from PUC Paraná. He attended a specialization course in terminals and pipeline engineering from PETROBRAS.

Marcelino joined PETROBRAS in 1987 and worked in several units of the Company, including the Maritime Terminal in São Paulo and several Terminals and Pipelines in Rio de Janeiro. He has also worked in PETROBRAS' Research Center – CENPES, where he started at the subsea engineering area and later became responsible for the pipeline technology program (PRODUT).

He was Director of Terminals and Pipelines of PETROBRAS TRANSPORTE – TRANSPETRO, where he previously held the positions of technology manager and general manager – business development and partnerships. From 2008 to 2013, he was Director-President of Abreu e Lima Refinery. From 2015 to 2020, he was Executive Manager, responsible for developing and applying solutions for illegal tapping in pipelines at PETROBRAS. After almost 34 years dedicated exclusively to PETROBRAS, he has recently retired and founded PIPELINEBRAZIL.

Marcelino is also member of the Pipeline Commission of the Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute (IBP), former Chair of the Pipeline System Division of the American society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an elected ASME fellow, former President of ABENDI – Brazilian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection, Member of Industry Advisory Board – IAB/ASME, former President of the Pipeline Technology Center – Brazil (CTDUT) and Advisory Member of the Pipeline Technology Conference (PTC).

 


 

Cliff Johnson

Cliff Johnson, CAE joined Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) as President in September 2010. He previously served as Director of Public Affairs at NACE International. Mr. Johnson’s legislative career includes positions with Texas State Senator Gregory Luna, US Congresswoman Connie Morella, US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and the Governor of Texas Ann Richards. Under Mr. Johnson’s leadership, PRCI’s membership has grown to over 75 members across the globe. In 2015, he led the creation of the Technology Development Center– a state-of-the-art pipeline research facility in Houston. In 2019, he developed the Strategic Research Priority (SRP) to enable PRCI members to drive the execution of strategic research efforts. In 2021, he launched the Emerging Fuels Institute, a consortium of industry members driving research to enable the energy transition.

Mr. Johnson earned his Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He has obtained his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation and is active in the American Society of Association Executives. He resides in Northern Virginia with his wife, Courtney, and five children (Emma, Oleg, Vivian, Lena, and Hana).

Husain Al-Muslim has more than 23 years of experience in Saudi Aramco, currently, Pipeline Engineering Consultant. He served as the Chairman of the Aramco Piping Standards Committee for 6 years. On international level, published several papers, participated in many international pipeline conferences and a committee member of the international standard ASME B31.8, and Chairman of the International Review Group IRG of ASME B31.8. Member of several technical committees of international conferences including: Member, Editorial board, Journal of Pipeline Engineering 2011-2018, Co-Chairman, Technical Committee, Pipeline Operations and Management-Middle East (2016), Member, Technical Committee, PRCI REX 2020, member, Research Steering Committee, Pipeline Research Council International. Worked in a major consulting firm in the United States (Kiefner) in 2013-2014 during intern assignment. Taught graduate and undergraduate courses at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) as part time instructor. Holds PE, FE, and PMP certificates.
