The International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is currently opening two vacancies for student volunteers who would like to serve the committee from the position of Vice Chair and Secretary. The deadline of both applications is June 19th, 2023 (EXTENDED).
The Student Advisory Committee represents the interests of students who attend the annual ASME Turbomachinery Technical Conference and Exposition (Turbo Expo) while also serving as a liaison to the ASME IGTI. The committee works to engage engineering students in the ASME IGTI by creating and organising student-oriented programming at Turbo Expo, including tutorial sessions and activities that encourage student interaction and networking with gas turbine professionals.
The Student Advisory Committee Vice Chair is responsible for supporting the chair’s activities and acting as a representative for the committee if the chair is not available. The Vice Chair is also responsible for supervising subcommittees, and for recruiting and leading student technical committee liaisons. The Vice Chair, who is actively involved in the SAC's decision-making process, will go on to succeed the SAC Chair the following year. Students interested in applying for the Vice Chair position shall submit the below application, accompanied by a resume or CV to the SAC by June 19th, 2023 (EXTENDED).
Vice Chair Application
Students may also apply for the Student Advisory Committee Secretary position. The student serving this role is responsible for drafting all formal correspondence for the committee. The selected candidate will take notes during all committee meetings, distribute the meeting minutes to committee members, coordinate monthly SAC meetings, and keep track of committee action items.
