Associate Professor
University of Birmingham

Dr Adriano Sciacovelli is Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham; he is an international leader in the field of Sustainable Thermal Energy Conversion and Storage. His background spans Mechanical Engineering and Energy Engineering and he has wide expertise in thermodynamic, mechanical, chemical and thermo-fluids sciences. The overarching objective of his research is to propose and develop integrated solutions for Sustainable Thermal Energy Conversion and Storage, expanding the fundamental understanding and knowledge in thermal sciences under the drive of end-users’ applications. Dr Sciacovelli has led/co-lead >20 research projects funded by from EU (H2020 and Horizon Europe) and UK Research Council (EPSRC), and industry for combined investments of ~22€m. As a result, his research has been contributing to the development of three technological solutions currently under commercialization together with industrial partners. He published 140+ papers in the fields of thermo-fluid sciences, applied thermal engineering, and thermal energy technologies. He holds multiple editorial and chair roles, including Associate editor of Applied Thermal Engineering. Finally, He is recipient of the Edward F. Obert Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) for this research contributions in the field of thermal energy engineering.
