Assistant Professor at the Department of Production and Systems Engineering of the University of Minho (UMinho) and affiliated with the ALGORITMI/LASI Centre, Portugal. She holds a PhD in Production and Systems Engineering. Her main research interests are in the areas of Production Systems Design and Operation; Lean Production and Lean Education; and Engineering Education. She is author/co-author of more than 250 publications. She supervised five PhD and is supervising three PhD and supervised more than 100 Master dissertations in Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM). She is member of the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the International Symposium on Project Approaches in Engineering Education (PAEE). She was a visiting scholar at Oakland University and MSOE, US and a mobility teacher in five universities under Erasmus+. She is also a member of the following societies and networks: SOCOLNET; SPEE; ASME; LEAN; EPIEM. She won the pedagogical award of UMinho School of Engineering in 2021 and the Dedicated Server Award in 2023 from ASME-Processes Industries Division. She was distinguished in the list of “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022”, study of Stanford University (US) and of Elsevier group. She has been organizing workshops about Lean Education and PBL. She was involved in four and is currently in one financed project industry and in two Project Erasmus+. ORCID.
