Huck Beng Chew received his Ph.D. in 2007 from the National University of Singapore, and joined Brown University as a post-doc and later, as a Research Assistant Professor. In 2011 he joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an Assistant Professor, and he is currently an Associate Professor in the department since 2018. His research interests is on the nano and micromechanics of small-scale material structures using multi-scale simulations. Huck Beng received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research in 2017. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and is a registered Chartered Engineer. He served as chair of the ASME Fracture and Failure Mechanics technical committee, and is currently on the ASME Materials Division Executive Committee.
