The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi is a vibrant, research driven community at the heart of the state’s flagship R1 university. We combine a tradition of excellence in teaching with nationally recognized research in advanced manufacturing, energy systems, biomedical devices, robotics, thermal fluid sciences, computational modeling, and materials innovation. Our faculty lead groundbreaking projects from 4D printed adaptive structures and bio inspired drag reduction surfaces to graphene enhanced composites for resilient infrastructure and NASA funded technologies for building on the Moon.
Students at Ole Miss Mechanical Engineering benefit from ABET accredited programs, state of the art laboratories, and close faculty mentorship in a collegial setting that encourages hands on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real world problem solving. Many undergraduates engage in publishable research, participate in award winning ASME design teams, and gain industry experience through co-ops and internships.
