Dr. Sekhar Rakurty

Dr. Sekhar Rakurty has over 20+ years of research and development experience in manufacturing, specifically designing cutting tools and fluid delivery systems. He earned his MS and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah. He is the research and development manager at the M. K. Morse Company. He has co-authored nine journal publications and 14 (peer-reviewed) conference publications on machining, welding, and sustainable solutions. He is the associate editor of the Machining Science and Technology journal. He holds 15 patents for new cutting tool designs in the US, Japan, Canada, India, and Mexico. He chairs the ASME standard committee for machine tools (B5) and cutting tools (B94). He is a member of the North American Manufacturing Research Conference's scientific committee and serves on the scientific committees of over five other international conferences. Dr. Rakurty is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Akron. He was awarded as an outstanding reviewer for the Journal of Manufacturing Processes in 2023 and for the North American Manufacturing Research Conference in 2022. He was awarded multiple research grants as a PI and co-PI for implementing AI, design for harsh environments, and digital transformation in Industrial applications.
