VIB Travel Support

Childcare Support for VIB Conference Attendees
Deadline August 1st, 2025

The Technical Committee on Vibration and Sound (TCVS) is pleased to announce the availability of childcare support for the VIB community to participate in the 37th Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise (VIB) during the International Design and Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC). For those who need childcare services, TCVS will reimburse at least $300/per attendee for services incurred by a licensed service provider in Anaheim, California. This offering will be available from August 17-20, 2025, during the hours of day in which technical presentations are offered.

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements:

  • Must be an author of an accepted IDETC submission in Track VIB in one of the following categories: "Technical Paper Publication," "Technical Presentation," or "Student Competition Paper".
  • Each awardee is required to register and attend the IDETC VIB conference.

Childcare Support Reimbursement Process: Application materials will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the TCVS. Support notification and the funding amount will be announced to applicants within a few days after receiving the application form to facilitate the conference travel arrangement.

The applicant will be asked to provide itemized receipts no later than ONE WEEK after the conference. The reimbursement will be issued shortly after the conference concludes and upon verification of the itemized receipts.

The reimbursement will be issued through the University of Southern California (USC) under the NSF award No. CMMI-2514988. Awardees will need to respond to USC emails to facilitate the reimbursement process.

How to apply: To be considered for this support,

  • Prepare a single-PDF file including the following items:
    1. Completed Childcare Supports Application Form,
    2. A proof of acceptance of paper or presentation, and
    3. A proof of conference registration.
  • Send the pdf application file to the TCVS point-of-contact for the childcare support program: Prof. Neda Maghsoodi (maghsoodi@usc.edu) and Prof. Pai Wang (pai.wang@utah.edu) before the deadline of August 1st, 2025.
  • Please use an email subject line of "IDETC VIB Childcare Support Application".

Travel Support for Students and Postdoctoral Researchers

The Technical Committee on Vibration and Sound (TCVS) is pleased to announce the availability of travel support for students and postdoctoral researchers to participate in the 37th Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise (VIB) during the International Design and Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC).

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements:

  • Must be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or postdoctoral researcher at the time of paper submission.
  • Must be the lead and presenting author of an accepted IDETC submission in Track VIB in one of the following categories: "Technical Paper Publication," "Technical Presentation," or "Student Competition Paper".
  • Each awardee is required to register and attend the IDETC VIB conference and present their accepted paper or presentation.

Selection and Travel Support Reimbursement Process: Application materials will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the TCVS. Award notification and the funding amount will be announced to awardees by August 1st, 2025. Travel support will be in the form of a partial reimbursement of travel expenses. Therefore, the reimbursement will be provided shortly after the completion of the travel and conference participation. The reimbursement will be issued through the University of Southern California (USC) under the NSF award No. CMMI-2514988. Awardees will need to respond to USC emails to facilitate the reimbursement process.
