Student and Early Career Engineer Conference Activities

ASME's IGTI Division, in conjunction with the Student Advisory Committee (SAC), offers many opportunities for students, as well as early career engineers. These include networking events, experience reviewing papers, and even Turbo Expo travel awards. Read more on these and other benefits of getting involved below.

IGTI SAC Turbo Career Talks

The sessions organized by the SAC during the technical conference are focused on professional development and are open to all conference attendees. This year, SAC has curated The IGTI SAC Turbo Career Talks series. This series is an initiative designed to provide students and early-career professionals with valuable insights into career opportunities across academia, government, and industry during Turbo Expo 2025.

Early Career & Student Networking Mixer

Sunday, June 15, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00pm (Ballroom A/B)

The Student & Early Career Networking Mixer is open to all conference participants and allows for both junior and senior attendees to socialize, network and discuss matters relevant to the turbomachinery field. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be available to all attendees. Attendees are encouraged to meet up with old friends, make new contacts and kick-off the conference week.

 


 

Poster Session

Tuesday, June 16, 12:00 P.M. – 1:30pm

The Student Advisory Committee is once again sponsoring a student poster session at ASME Turbo Expo. Student posters will be on display on the main exposition floor on Tuesday, June 16th from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. Be sure to stop by the poster session to see the results of their work and encourage them to become active in the ASME IGTI community. Poster winners will be announced at the Expo Hall Closing Ceremony on Thursday, June 19 from 1:00pm – 2:15pm.

SAC Annual Meeting (Leadership elections): June 19th 2025, 4:00 – 5:30 PM The International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is currently opening two vacancies for student volunteers who would like to serve the committee from the position of Vice Chair and Secretary. The deadline of both applications is June 6th, 2025.

The Student Advisory Committee represents the interests of students who attend the annual ASME Turbomachinery Technical Conference and Exposition (Turbo Expo) while also serving as a liaison to the ASME IGTI. The committee works to engage engineering students in the ASME IGTI by creating and organizing student-oriented programming at Turbo Expo, including tutorial sessions and activities that encourage student interaction and networking with gas turbine professionals.

SAC Meeting

Thursday, June 19, 2025, 4:00pm – 5:30pm

The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting takes place every year during the ASME Turbo Expo. All student conference attendees are welcome to join and start their SAC journey by becoming members. During this meeting, esteemed speakers and members of International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) executive committee may be invited to give a brief presentation and answer any questions. The SAC initiatives and associated statistics throughout the year are presented and, finally, the election process for the next SAC Vice-Chair and Secretary takes place.

Note: All student travel award recipients and student liaisons are expected to attend this meeting.
